Creative Teaching Awards

The Creative Teaching Awards recognize University of Georgia faculty for excellence in developing and implementing creative teaching methods to improve student learning. These awards are presented annually by the Office of Instruction to encourage instructional excellence.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a nomination for the 2018 Creative Teaching Award. Nominations for this year are closed. See our most innovative teachers in the Previous Recipients tab to the left.

Please check back in December 2018 for information on the 2019 Creative Teaching Award.

 

 

Criteria:

  • Available for all full-time faculty, including tenured, tenure-track or non-tenured faculty.
  • Demonstrated innovation in teaching and successful outcomes, such as innovative use of technology, pedagogy that extends learning beyond the traditional classroom, or creative implementation of subject matter that has significantly improved student learning outcomes.
  • Learning outcomes must have been completed within the 2016-17 academic year.

Nominations:

  • Nominations are due by Jan. 9 at 5pm and may be submitted by any faculty member, dean or department head. Nominations should include name, department and rank of the nominee, along with a brief statement (approximately 300 words) explaining why the nominee should be considered for a Creative Teaching Award.   • Nominees will be selected by a committee appointed within the Office of Instruction.
  • Awards will be announced in February 2018.

Recognition:

  • Award recipients will be recognized at the annual Faculty Recognition Banquet on April 16, 2018, and celebrated through various university marketing efforts.
  • Each recipient will receive a cash award that may be used in further innovative teaching efforts or at their own discretion.
