Faculty teaching while wearing a mask.

In a semester unlike any other, we all need to share what we learned this semester with our colleagues. Over the next few months, the Office of Instruction will collect and share tips from faculty across campus that might be helpful as you restructure your classroom practices. Here are the first two:

Tip 1:

When recording lecture videos, break up your traditional long format into topical areas. Short videos allow students to easily re-watch content that may be particularly challenging.

Tip 2:

Invite a guest lecturer to present. Because of the freedom afforded by video conferencing and decreased travel demands, many experts are more accessible than in the past.

We want to hear from you! We are asking for your help as you are on the front lines, working with students and staff daily to address challenging situations brought on not only by the pandemic but also by concerns about health, the economy, social justice, and more. With just a few moments of your time, you could solve a troublesome issue that a fellow faculty member has struggled with all semester and help provide an enhanced learning experience for students. Helping is easy, take 3 minutes to contribute your Teaching Behind the Mask tip here.
